I have somewhat reproduced the issue, at least I have seen xfce4-appfinder =
not
start.

It does look like it is caused by the presence of ibus, but I have no clue =
why.

One interesting thing is that if I launch xfce4-appfinder with truss to try=
 to
understand where it hangs, it does not hang anymore.

Usually this behavior indicates there is a timing issue, some kind of resou=
rce
deadlock.

I don't know where the issue is or what could be a solution though, also not
knowing anything about how ibus of xfce4-appfinder work internally. In fact=
 I
never use any of those, so I don't even know how to use them.

I will anyway post an issue upstream about this, but since I'm not using the
related software, I'd rather have you (the OP) chime in to confirm the issue
and eventually help test patches.
