Other posters have answered your ftp-resume question. About filtering mail, I like "maildrop" (http://www.flounder.net/~mrsam/maildrop/) instead of procmail. Maildrop's syntax is easier and it understands the Maildir format natively. Note: I think the version of Maildrop included in the ports collection is old and doesn't work with current versions of FreeBSD.
