I ve no experience with FreeBSD. Here is my hardware: Motherboard MS - 5169 (Aladdin 5), AHA-2940UW with SEAGATE ST51080N with rootfs (I boot from floppy cause WIN95 regularly destroys my MBR) as well as another IBM-HD and Pioneer-CDROM Here is my problem: With kernel 2.0.35 (SuSE-5.3-Distribution) I had the choice between an new SCSI-Driver and an old one. The new Driver didn't work (reasons below) so I took the old. Now I have to change for hardware reasons (Sedlbauer ISDN Card) to a newer kernel 2.1.112 without this choice. This is what happens on bootup: ... scsi: 1 hosts (scsi 0:0:-1:-1) Scanning channel for devices SCSI: aborting command du to timeout: pid 1, scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun0 Inquiry 00 00 00 ff 00 SCSI host 0 abort (pid 1) time out - trying harder SCSI bus is being reset for host 0 channel 0 ... This ends in eternal repeating of resetting and searching for devices. I tried to change my settings in the SCSI-Bios (which is enabled) without success. So what can I do? Is there any hope for my new kernel to get booted properly? I do not believe in hardware failures because 2.0.35 and older kernels as well as others OS's do not have a problem with my SCSI-System. Any hints? Thanks in advance Uli To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-aic7xxx" in the body of the message
