At least put a note up about that then. If people go to connect to ftp.freebsd.org and get connection refused or a DNS lookup that will scare them even more. Why not just put the text of your mail to -announce up in the newsflash section? Also, FWIW, Neil Blakely-Milner (sp?) had a sample of a new frontpage that trimmed some of the text and had the last 4 or 5 items from newsflash on the bottom.
