I don't know what OS you have on the IDE drive but you can
at any time disable the IDE drive from the BIOS (CMOS)
and boot FreeBSD off the SCSI disk while still seeing the
IDE disk from FreeBSD. 

I don't know of a bootloader that allows booting from more than
one controller - not sure though, if OSBS2BETA allows for this.

Does the SCSI Bios allow for installing a SCSI drive at SCSI ID !=0
being installed as drive D: ? Not sure at the moment.
