I managed to get apache-ssl running after building it from the ports
collection. However, everytime I tried to connect to it, I would get the
following error message from the browser:

The security library has experienced an out of memory error.
	Please try to reconnect.

The error message logged by the server was:

	[Tue Dec 9 19:00:46 1997] SSL_Accept failed
	[Tue Dec 9 19:00:46 1997] error:14094412:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:sslv3 alert bad certificate

What went wrong? Can somebody help me?
