I've taken a look at it, and it seems to be a C++/templates thing,
which is out of my comfort zone.
I build on 5.4-STABE from June 9.
Here's the last thing that it said..... cur, root, and stk are
protected members of the NodeIterator template class defined earlier
in that same file.
