Hi All-

I have managed to get past the perl business by a combination of

adding chown to /usr/src/Makefile.inc1  (I also added cp and touch
though I am not entirely convinced this was necessary).

and using 

make -i installworld

I still firmly believe that this little bit of the perl installation
is broken (you should be able to do this without write perms!).
