About 2 months ago, we suddenly started getting complaints about not being able to connect(win95:Could not negotiate compat. set of prots). Checking the logs, we were getting "timeout sending Config requests" from pppd. Further research revealed that the line speed was apparently changing. Instead of ! }!}!}!}... pppd was giving garbage as if the DTE speed was set wrong. This happened about half the time a machine called in. We figured at the time we had some modems frying on us(it's happened before). We checked all our settings on the modems, cycled the power, and the problem appeared to go away. Well, this lasted about 3 weeks. Then the problem came back. Owing to the relatively new cyclades driver(and some other problems apparently related to VM) we upgraded to 2.1.6(we were running both 2.1 and 2.1.5). The problem has not resolved. Can anybody point to a possible problem here? Modem settings: &D3s0=1 and locked at 57600. BSD settings: crtscts 57600(we also used to have -clocal and cs8 We're running two ISA 16 port Cyclades boards. TIA -- Neal Rigney, PERnet Communications, (409)729-4638 neal@mail.pernet.net
