Package: gnome-media Severity: normal Version: 2.0.2.5 Synopsis: Segmentation Fault in Gnome CD after Track 1 fails mid song, etc. Bugzilla-Product: gnome-media Bugzilla-Component: Gnome-CD BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.0.5) Description: Description of Problem: I'm trying to narrow down an earlier bug report I've made on a segmentation fault. I think I have some more details this time. I also think there may be an OS component to the problem. What happens is this: 1) Gnome CD starts playing Track 1; 2) at some point during play, there's an error reading the CD by the OS (a READ BIG error in the FreeBSD ATAPI CDROM driver); 3) playing stops; 4) I eject the CD using the eject button on Gnome CD; 5) sometimes, on reloading the CD, Gnome CD immediately has a Segmentation Fault and dies. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. see above 2. 3. Actual Results: Gnome CD dies, I have to kill the remains and restart. Recovery from a read error at the OS level seems to be less than graceful. Expected Results: Play the CD to completion. Interestingly, if I skip ahead to Track 3 and further, I have no problems (probably doesn't trigger the underlying OS read error und so weiter. How often does this happen? About 50% of the time on re-insertion, an OS read error always occurs in the system log before or nearly before playing stops. Regardless, Gnome CD should reload the CD without choking. Additional Information: I'm running FreeBSD 4.7-STABLE using Gnome/2 built from ports. The support group for Gnome at FreeBSD is gnome@FreeBSD.org. Debugging Information: Backtrace was generated from '/usr/X11R6/bin/gnome-cd' (no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...
