It significantly improves the throughput of large majordomo mailing lists (or any other mailing list that uses a plaintext address list.) I don't think this particular tool would be useful to a spammer. I was the person who ported this software, because I found it invaluable as an add-on to majordomo when managing large lists. It's not important to keep it in the ports collection if it's going to cause a lot of misgivings (it's a very simple program, and a very very simple port, and easy enough to find.) At any rate, it's not my decision. Just thought I would state the intention of the (poorly named) software in question.
