I don't know. :-)

It allows you to kick your display into 800x600x16 mode in the bootblocks,
have syscons understand it mostly, and XF86_VGA16 run on it, even if
your chipset is not supported (Like NeoMagic for instance).

It's only 16 colors, but it's better than nothing.

It's also the proof that Soren was right when he claimed that adding
support for graphic displays in syscons was easy:  He was right :-)

And I only found one bug in syscons on the way :-)
