And I know my professors in college in the mid 80's mentioned it as well. If anybody hassles us, I'll dig up my notes. Also, NPR had a story of an old Cobol programmer talking about using this in the late 60s/early 70s when the first 30 year bonds to cross the centry line... Even if this person had patented the technique at the time, that patent would have long expired by now. And they couldn't patent it at the time.
