But no mention of stable/12 which must have been active then, although perhaps before hybrid images were first used on 12.2(?), while 12.3 also worked fine on both my BIOS-booting systems.

Any chance of re@ applying the patch to release/amd64/mkisoimages.sh and making the revised dvd1.iso available?

disc1.iso already has an .img equivalent.
