Since i'm trying to merge completely away from ISA, i'm pretty interested. I'd like to know if these ARE actually compatable in unix. Or did they just call it not-a-winmodem so they could charge more? Also, i was a bit put out when i first installed FreeBSD (some years ago, before 3.0 came out) and i had a winmodem at the time; discovered it didn't work. Now i know it's been said that it'd be pretty easy to write a driver for these winmodems. So i decided to ask for an update. Does 4.0, or indeed 5.0 have any support for these winmodems? Maybe just 3com/USR winmodems? I'm running on an old external 28.8, while the winmodem is a 33.6. It'd be really nice to be able to use it right now. (It'd save me like $100 for the cost of a new modem.) Thanks, Jesse (one of the last few non-broadband users, wishing for even cable) P.S. Oh yea, one more thing. I saw the message about USB modems (no responce yet). How about serial modems that are connected through a USB to Serial converter? so it actually DOES go through the USB port? Is there support for something like that? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
