I think you must have lost interest (or the ability) to be a maintainer if you didn't tell that your e-mail address is going away. Especially if you simply switched to another e-mail address. I think it's fair to assign all ports maintained by the "bouncing maintainer" to ports@FreeBSD.org. To avoid removing maintainers in case of technical problems at the receiving MTA, you could try to mail him a week after the first attempt.
