At least I have got gnome2-power-tools and gnome2-office upgraded to 2.9.1 and no damage was done. During gnome_upgrade28.sh I had to set links from libgobject-2.0.so.400 libgmodule-2.0.so.400 libgthread-2.0.so.400 libglib-2.0.400 to their latest versions (...505).
