	do you have more than one hard drive?
	if you have installed FreeBSD on the second hard drive,
	you will need to tell FreeBSD that the kernel 
	is not on the first hard drive.

	if you have IDE drives type "wd(1,a)/kernel" at the "boot:" prompt.
	if you have SCSI drives type "sd(1,a)/kernel" at the "boot:" prompt.

	i am guessing here,
	can you provide us more information about your computer
	and how you installed FreeBSD?
