It wasn't clearly stated what your objective was. And it lead to several
also-non-Freebsd tangents.

Nothing wrong with that -- I also have OpenBSD and NetBSD sparc64
installed for reference. But after learning out FreeBSD does it, time to
move the discussion to the {Net,Open}BSD lists.
