It would be wise to qualify this to state that "software" internal modems such as the Winmodem, the MWAVE, certain Boca modems, etc. are not supported, and the compression/error detection of some earlier partially-software modems (RPI modems is what they were called, if memory serves) is not supported either. However, a majority of modems out there are not brain-dead like that and work fine with non-Windows operating systems.
