Subject:   unwanted messages in console

Hi there,

stuff like [1)] appears in my consoles, and, being really 
uninterested in 99% of it, I'd like to get rid of them. What 
should I do? (BTW, it did it with the GENERIC kernel as well.)

What happens is this: I'm logged on one console, doing something.
Switch to another console, log in, and when I switch back, I 
have the login msg at the bottom of my screen.

And the eyes of them both were opened and they saw that their files
were world readable and writable, so they chmoded 600 their files.
