Sarah,

I'm runnning FreeBSD 2.2.5 on my Toshiba laptop using a generic pcmcia card. 
Works better than my desktop.  I'm not using PAO either.  Straight
2.2.5-Release.

One note: slot zero (top) does not work on my laptop.  I don't know if I have a
bad machine or not, but it threw me for a few hours, till I switched to slot
one. ;(
