That's OK by me.... *if* sendmail will really honor redirection within
a .forward file.

Well, if you REALLY wanted to take that tack the whole way, then the
vacation(1) response message (addressed back to the original message
sender) should be going to stdout, where it could just be piped to
"sendmail -bm -t".

But I suspect nobody wants to take it to THAT extreme.
