I'm not 100% sure, but I seem to remember the FreeBSD version didn't become unresponsive while waiting for a very slow data transfer. As it is, some sites cause ALL NS windows to lock, and not refresh if you change workspaces, until the data waited for is received, or whatever other condition is required.
