     don't forget that the atapi driver included in the kernel of the 2.2.6 
     release is not completely functional.
     
     I installed via the DOS partition (after disabling wdc1), then 
     recompiled the kernel with the new atapi driver.

   I am starting to see a trend here: It seems a lot of the people having
install problems with 2.2.6 have NEC CD-ROM...me included.  Any thoughts 
on this?
