When I backed off and = reinstalled FreeBSD version 4.1, the problem went away. Does anybody = have any ideas on what is going on here? I would really like to = understand this little annoyance. I installed FreeBSD version 4.2 on my system and my = disk drive=20 "thrashes" to the degradation of all system performance (e.g. it takes = 4-5=20 seconds to start "vi" of a simple text file). When I backed off and = reinstalled=20 FreeBSD version 4.1, the problem went away. Does anybody have any ideas = on what=20 is going on here? I would really like to understand this little=20 annoyance.
