HI there,

I've been having real problems getting the lastest version of gnome to install
on my Athlon under 5.21 CURRENT.

Initially I had loads of problems with my packages and ports, so I followed the
instructions and ran:
pkgdb -F

pkg_delete -rf pkgconfig\*

cd /usr/ports/x11/gnome2
make clean
make install clean

When compiling I got this error:

checking for _FILE_OFFSET_BITS value needed for large files... no
checking for _LARGE_FILES value needed for large files... no
checking for pkg-config... /usr/local/bin/pkg-config
configure: error: *** pkg-config too old; version 0.14 or better required.
===>  Script "configure" failed unexpectedly.
Please report the problem to gnome@FreeBSD.org [maintainer] and attach the
"/usr/ports/devel/glib20/work/glib-2.4.1/config.log" including the output of
the failure of your make command. Also, it might be a good idea to provide
an overview of all packages installed on your system (e.g. an `ls
/var/db/pkg`).

I thought that this might have been due to the wrong version of pkg-config being
installed, so I went to the pkg-config ports and installed a new version.
Then I re-ran the last three commands: cd into the gnome2 folder and then make
etc. This gave the same problem. I've just tried to install the binaries for
gnome2 but can't work out how to run startx..... please help!

And just in case this is helpful too, I've attahced my kernel config.
Also the log is attached in a Windows Zip file.

Kind regards,
