This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_001D_01BFF02E.E797A460 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Dear sir/ madam, After trying and retrying using the "official" :-) distribution cd's = from FreeBSD i found myself nowhere near a complete installation of = freebsd. During install i got all kinds of messages saying thate.g. kdbase failed xbin failed kdebase failed gtk-12.7. failed errorcode 1 xman failed etc. Have there been wrong distibutions put onto ftp sites and distibution = disks? I tried using FTP from friday untill sunday night. This costs me about = 2-3$ per hour.=20 Before that i downloaded an iso image and put that on cd; after that i = tried another from "Maarten Steenbergen" and that did not work either. I have put all kinds of questions into several newsgroups. Bu basically = the answers are no good to me, as i am not able to put a good freebsd = installation on my pc.... That is very awkward, as Freebsd recognises e.g. my ethernet card = whereas (mandrake) linux does not do that (yet). can you help me? Regards, Wim Kapteyn ------=_NextPart_000_001D_01BFF02E.E797A460 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; = charset=3Diso-8859-1"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.50.4134.600" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Dear sir/ madam,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>After trying and retrying using the = "official"=20 :-) distribution cd's from FreeBSD i found myself nowhere near a = complete=20 installation of freebsd.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>During install i got all kinds of = messages saying=20 thate.g.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>kdbase failed</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>xbin failed</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>kdebase failed</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>gtk-12.7. failed errorcode = 1</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>xman failed</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>etc.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Have there been wrong distibutions put = onto ftp=20 sites and distibution disks?</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>I tried using FTP from friday untill = sunday night.=20 This costs me about 2-3$ per hour. </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Before that i downloaded an iso image = and put that=20 on cd; after that i tried another from "Maarten Steenbergen" and that = did not=20 work either.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>I have put all kinds of questions into = several=20 newsgroups.
