I've been given a 486 with 1 Gig IDE drive, dragging me away from my `SCSI exclusively & forever stance', & forcing me to learn about foul stuff like my BIOS C. 1993 doesn't support > 530Meg etc, EZ.exe & other DOS/Intel/PC/Gates nasties ... Rel. 2.1.6 won't install on the IDE, so I've cloned current on an 80M SCSI disc, & can now poke at the IDE from a FreeBSD platform, Suggestions as to what to poke, & what to RTFM would be appreciated, I've already cruised the handbook, & FAQ, but found nothing Re. booting > 500M drives on old bioses with < 500M capability . PS please leave me on the CC line, as I posted this to hackers (but I'm only subscribed to current etc) Thanks Julian --- Julian H. Stacey jhs@freebsd.org http://www.freebsd.org/~jhs/
