I have a FreeBSD based machine, running primary DNS, that is pretty "mission critical"... ie, can't be spared to be down for any longer than a reboot. We need to upgrade the DNS software... currently running a 4.x.x bind. (we aren't sure what, because I can not figure out how to tell the version of BIND on FreeBSD) We want to upgrade the server to BIND 8.1.2, however, we have already noticed that we are going to have up upgrade some libaries as well. How do I tell what version software I am running, and what FreeBSD version I'm running? Also, what do I need to do to upgrade to BIND 8.1.2 from whatever version I'm on now?
