I have been using this since 3.5:

   set prompt="%B%{\e]2\;%n@%m %l %~%#^g\e]1\;%n@%m^g\r%}%m\:%~%#%b "

still works. I use a custom /etc/csh.cshrc file so it is window manager 
independent. I took a shot at translating this using the man page a couple of 
years ago.
