Hi Stephen, I had a similar problem to this when using my FreeBSD as a gateway (connecting to the InterNet via ppp -alias) My windows machine was behind it, and for some odd reason, I was popping in and and out of people Online lists every couple of minutes. I remember finding a partial soluation to the problem, and that was playing with the different types of connectivity options available to you in the ICQ configuration. Try them all (even if they make no sense compared to your setup) and if my memory doesn't fail me, you will have a stable connection to ICQ.
