Once you cp your own copy of GENERIC kernel; cd to /usr/src make buildkernel KERNCONF=YOUR_KERNEL_NAME make installkernel KERNCONF=YOUR_KERNEL_NAME Make sure that the KERNCONF is in UPPERCASE!
