Take care. Have to ask, if, IF the BIOS is handling the existing RAID itself, why can't FreeBSD handle the result just like a single drive?  Of course, if some tool/driver loaded at boot time by the old OS is doing it, then it's toast in any case. It's worth checking if it's a plug in disc controller that is doing the RAID functionality, if so, then "It's own BIOS" will be handling it, and FreeBSD should just see the one logical drive. That's what happened with Nas4Free (FreeBSD based) when we put on an old HP server at work a few years ago.  The original content data was still lost though.  (Not an issue that time!) Regards.
