As far as I know, this is still a limitation of FreeBSD -- our boot blocks and/or loader (not sure) don't work for partitions beyond the 1GB limit. The usual hackaround is to create a small root partition near the beginning of the disk for FreeBSD. Ciao, Sheldon.
