Well, since you apparently don't intend to create this documentation, this question really belongs in -questions, not -doc. Get a copy of "TCP/IP Illustrated", at least volume 2, by Richard Stevens. You'll find it in your local university bookshop. It's an excellent book and describes the TCP/IP implementation in great detail. In view of your project, you might also take a look at the same author's "UNIX Network Programming", which I can also heartily recommend.
