I know this is off-topic and I apologize but a search of deja.com doesn't help much and there doesn't really seem to be a good forum for this. I was wondering if anyone has run across any log analysis program(s) that calculates (or estimates) the number of unique visitors in a given period. I know that this calculation is totally subjective, but I am trying to get a rough idea, it doesn't have to be 100% accurate, just consistent over time. The other difficulty I will have in calculating this is also the fact that I don't use cookies. Webtrends does a decent job of calculating visitors per day, I just can't find anything that guesstimates uniques. I currently use both analog (unix and win95) and webtrends (win95 only and I won't put it on my unix server) and I have found something called openwebscope (for win95 at least) from leechsoftware.com that claims to do this however downloading and installing on two different computers results in nothing working in both situations. I sent an email to their support address 10 days ago and nada. Doubtful purchase now. Any solutions or ideas are certainly welcomed.
