How do I start the rpc services on Freebsd 2.1R.

If I try rpcinfo -p I get the following message:
rpcinfo: can't contact portmapper: rpcinfo: RPC: Unable to receive; errno = Connection reset by peer

Portmap is running but I don't know what else I need to start.
