And FreeBSD ports mk really=20 do CFLAGS transforms. Try put a march=3D in /etc/make.conf CFLAGS or define CPUTYPE. You may=20 see how make transforms CFLAGS after your tweak and the -march is still=20 imported to the used CFLAGS. (At last, this was some kinda of FAQ).
