I have applied your patch, and lang/php4 & www/mod_php4 build OK.
Tested with some simple apps and several ext. => OK.

But there are problems with ports requiring PEAR:

- www/horde2 (2.1) becomes broken (isWarning / ::DB)
     => it's not a real problem, fixed in 2.2. I have just to modify
     deps in PR ports/47229.

- mail/imp3 becomes broken (Crypt_HCEMD5)
     => I have sent a port of security/pear-Crypt_CBC - deps to be
     updated.

- deskutils/kronolith becomes broken (Date_Calc + HTML_Select
  + isWarning)
     . I have sent ports for Date_Calc & HTML_Select (deps to be
     updated), and it is easy to patch isWarning.

Conclusion: please commit your patch, and I shall re-submit patches for
Horde's modules (should be ready tomorrow).
