I grabbed FreeBSD-current (as of 7-16-1996 or so), supped sys-src release=smp, and compiled with options SMP and "NCPU=2". It said: Jul 17 10:28:23 teryx /kernel: =========> SECOND CPU LAUNCHED!! <========= when I said "sysctl -w kern.smp_active=2" As a change of pace from the usual messages: It worked. YAY! :-) I have noticed a few things though... (ok... not much of a change of pace.) My machine is not recognized as a dual 80586.
