I've got a nasty hack that eases the problem (on a laptop that hasn't got net connectivity right now - I'll get it online later today). Just a random exponential backoff (and really in the wrong place), but it avoid the CPU-eating and makes the log-spewing less massive. Might be something to put on the vendor branch while we are waiting, though - I can't see it hurting, and while being the wrong fix, it makes the problem much less painful. Eivind.
