i am trying to get this pcmcia card modem to work on my gateway solo 2200
laptop. the docs that came with it identify it as an "XJ2000", but running
a "cardctl ident" under linux shows it as an "XJ1560". i am having an
impossible time trying to get my kernel configured and everything setup so
i can use this thing.

i won't go into all the details of what i've tried since none of it has
worked. basically, i've uncommented the device and controller lines for
pcmcia in my kernel config. and i editted some of the rc.* files. an error
during boot tells me:
"device sio1: irq 3 not in bitmap of probed irqs" (in linux, my modem shows
up on /dev/cua1, but in windows on com3)

then there is a "no card configured" later during boot. i apologize for not
having a verbatum dmesg to post, but i just got done doing some hard drive
rearranging and have to reinstall fbsd next.

i downloaded the PAO package, but the page says it requires fbsd 2.8. being
so new to fbsd, i don't know if this is something i can work around or even
where to start.

i am running:
freebsd 3.1-R

gateway solo 2200 laptop with:
p166 mmx
56mb ram

any help would be greatly appreciated!
