As for USB mouse, you can just plug in and it will work (tested). It even survives suspend/resume. Right now I have only a bluetooth mouse connected and no USB mice around here, but if I recollect correctly, you have to play with Option "AutoAddDevices" (false or true) in your Section "ServerLayout". Please try. If this doesn't work for you, I'll try to reconstruct my old xorg.conf that I used successfully with USB mouse. Ivan
