You might want to check the archives of the freebsd-ports@ mailing list, or even ask there to reach a bigger audience. Personally, I don't remember if anyone had plans for that, or even if it is possible (ie. if the Unity components use Linux-specific calls or components, or if it needs some GL stuff that our GNOME team still seems to be struggling with).
