When I tried to run fxtv, the following messages are displayed on the monitor. -------------Start of Message -------------- # fxtv Xlib: extension "XFree86-DGA" missing on display ":0.0". Direct Video not supported by visual...using XImages -------------End of Message----------------- I have noticed that the picture on the fxtv picture is jerky. I changed the fxtv size from small screen to half screen and picture was still jerky. I then changed the fxtv from small screen to full screen and picture was still j erky. I did not have any problem chaning the screen size. I looked at XF86Config file, and every this seems to be OK. I used "xf86config" utility in "/usr/X11R6/bin" directory to generate the following XF86Config file. I removed the "omit" word from the follwoing statement. SubSection "extmod" Option "xfree86-dga" # don't initialise the DGA extension EndSubSection I also uncommented the following fields in XF86Config: # This loads the GLX module Load "glx" # This loads the DRI module Load "dri" Section "DRI" Mode 0666 EndSection I then exit from fxtv and window manager, and rebooted the P.C. I started fxtv and did not see any messages on the monitor. I also noticed that the fxt v picture is not jerky any more. I then changed the size of the fxtv picture size from small to half size screen and back, and picture was fine. I then changed the size of the fxtv picture from small to full size screen, picture was fine. But when I tried to change the fxtv screen from full size to small size screen, It did not work, desk top screen looked as it is forzen. The only way out of this situation is to use "Ctrl" "Alt" "BackSpace", to kill the window manager. I have noticed this problem in FreeBsd4.6,4.7,4.8. However this problem did not occure in FreeBsd4.5, and therefore FXTV works fine in FreeBsd4.5 It looks as fxtv is run with "-disableDirectV" option, i.e.(- Disable DMA transfers str aight to video card" option). But since I am not running the fxtv application with the above option, it indicates tha t the DMA transfer stright to video card is not working correctly in Freebsd 4.6 to FreeBsd4.10 Here I am enclsoing the out put of the dmesg: Copyright (c) 1992-2004 The FreeBSD Project.
