However, the port "pkg_version" (I think it's in sysutils, can't remember, just "search" for it via "make search key=pkg_version" from within your ports directory) can help in detecting when a port you have installed can be updated. I have found pkg_version particularly useful when coupled with Nik Clayton's patches: http://www.freebsd.org/~nik/pkg_version.1.diff http://www.freebsd.org/~nik/pkg_version.diff Once you apply these patches, do "pkg_version -vc" and it will actually spew shell commands that you can judiciously cut-n-paste to upgrade an individual port. Very useful.
