I am using 2.1.5-release, and I have configured ppp so that I can read the news (gnus) using a nntp connection and normal network operations (telnet, ftp, etc) do work. I have been assigned a static IP address by my ISP. I start "sendmail -bd" from the etc/sysconfig file and then issue the command "sendmail -q" after making the ppp connection and again after sending a message. My machine (486dx2) does have the hostname set, but the name is not registered with InterNIC. My problem is mail (post, sendmail, whatever) does not work. I use emacs and mh to handle mail. When I send a message, I get the following error messages: post: problem initializing servers [BHST] no servers available send: message not delivered to anyone I receive these same error messages regardless of whether I send to a exterior address or another account on my machine (486dx2). thanks for any hints or clues.
