Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-freebsd-isp@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org I've always backed up my system with FreeBSD's dump command, e.g. dump 0auf /dev/nrst0 / etc. (I always used to do full backups). Recently with the amount of data increasing on the system (but not changing!) - I'd like to start doing incrementals... After I've run a dump at level 0 (zero), can I just keep running dumps at level 1 until I decide I need / want to do another 'full' dump? Or do I have to just keep incrementing the dump levels until I hit 9 or something? I really don't want to bother with anything fancy (like the man page suggests) - (touch wood) - I've had to do so few restores I'd really just be happy with doing 1 full dump a month, and incrementals every day (and then have to feed the machine a lot of tapes ;-) I'd also like to stick with dump & restore (I've looked at Amanda etc.) - as it works out the box, and it's tried - and tested on this site... ;-) Any info gratefully received, Regards, Karl Pielorz To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isp" in the body of the message
