Sorry for the delay.  Try :

assign A: /tmp/1.44 1440
boot A:

and see whether that helps.  Also make sure you are running the latest
set of kernel patches, and that they installed cleanly.  Also make sure
that you have the LKM loaded, and that you haven't _unloaded_ it.
